“We are ecstatic to collaborate with TalkCampus to offer students at the American University in the Emirates opportunities to enjoy a successful academic trajectory with bettered mental health."
The American University in the Emirates, one of the core higher education institutions in the Gulf region, has recently launched TalkCampus for its student community. TalkCampus is a welcome addition to the existing student support services offered at AUE, providing students with instant support through their phone or browser, 24/7, no matter where they are in the world.
One of the appealing features of TalkCampus to the AUE team was the variety of features on the platform that complement the peer-to-peer community, including the well-being library which is regularly updated with content that is relevant to their student journey. TalkCampus is also customised for students with AUE’s student services embedded within the application, so students will be able to talk with other students all around the globe, while having support options specific to their needs and place of study.
“We are ecstatic to collaborate with TalkCampus to offer students at the American University in the Emirates opportunities to enjoy a successful academic trajectory with bettered mental health. It’s 2022, and discussion around mental health is still taboo in the Middle East and North Africa. Launching TalkCampus at AUE will allow us to pioneer the movement of breaking many cultural barriers. Lack of education about mental health and lack of readily available services and activities challenge students from achieving their academic goals. Our collaboration with TalkCampus will not only instigate conversation about mental health issues in Dubai but also transform students into global citizens while possessing an understanding of diverse perspectives on mental health in our region.” Prof. Muthanna Abdulrazzaq, President of the AUE
“We are incredibly excited to be launching TalkCampus at The American University in the Emirates. By giving students access to an upstream service like TalkCampus, students are able to be proactive about their well-being and receive support for any challenges they are facing, in an environment that is familiar and intuitive to them. Introducing peer support to student populations in the Middle East is an important step in combating the stigma that still surrounds mental health. We know that the community will be an incredible resource for these students and aid them in their success.” - Andrew Welch, Senior Vice President, TalkCampus
A combination of peer support, machine learning and innovative design, TalkCampus offers a community of support for a variety of anxieties, isolation and life’s ups and downs, whilst also providing social connection with like-minded students all over the world, in a non-judgmental environment. The TalkCampus global Trust and Safety team works around the clock, across multiple time zones, and is readily available to intervene in real-time if an AUE student is struggling - anywhere in the world.
