At Owens Community College, the focus on student mental health has always been a priority. Vickie Heck, MAC, LPCC-S, Director of Counseling Services at Owens Community College, highlights the importance of this new initiative:
“We are excited to be able to offer our students access to 24/7 support within a safe, confidential environment through a peer support network provided by our new partnership with TalkCampus. We at Owens Community College recognize the need to provide additional mental health resources, especially in times of after-care or when a student is struggling with an issue(s). We know that for many students, reaching out to traditional counseling services can be intimidating, and TalkCampus will provide those students with the opportunity to share their experiences, thoughts, and feelings in a supportive environment. Partnering with TalkCampus will proactively help the college to respond to the needs of our students and help them progress towards their educational goals and life decisions.”
